Plants and their habitats

                          Plant are very important to us. Plants prepare food that we and other animals use. Plants are found in different places. Some plants like the lotus and the hydrilla are found in water. Other plants like the cactus and the coconut are found on land.
 
                                                                Terrestrial plants

The plants that grow on land are called terrestrial plants. Some plants grow in high mountain regions. Some plants grow in hot and moist climate.
 
There are some plants that grow in the desert as well. Based on their habitat, land plants can have different features to suit them. The pine, spruce and fir are found at high altitude. These plants have the following features:
Ø  1.They are tall.
Ø  2.They have parallel branches.
Ø  3.The leaves are in the form of needles to reduce water loss.
Some plants grow in the desert. The cactus is an example of a desert plant. Desert plants have the following features:
Ø  1.They have long and extensive roots.                             
Ø  2.They have thick stems to store waters
   3.Their leaves are reduced to needles or spines to minimize water loss.
