                     Developmental stages of a plant
We see different types of plants at home. When we walk around, we see plants of various shapes and sizes. Some plants have flowers while others do not have flowers. Flowers of some plants are big and colourful whereas flowers of some plants are small and dull.
                                                                flowering plants
A plant that gears flowers is called a flowering plant. A flowering plant has the following parts:
Root: it grows underground and helps plants to stand in the soil. It also absorbs water and minerals that a plant requires from the soil.
Stem: it is the aerial part of the plant and it bears many structures such as leaves, buds, flowers and fruits. leaves are green in colour and make food with the help of sunlight. This process is called photosynthesis.
A flowering plant bears fruits. These fruits have seeds inside them. Some fruits like mangos and litchis have one seed whereas fruits like orange and watermelons have many seeds. Tomatoes and brinjal plants are vegetables. But, they are also called fruits and have many seeds inside them.

Seeds are an important part of a plant. Most plants grow from seeds. When seeds are placed in soil and watered appropriately, they germinate into a young plant. For germination, a seed needs water, air and warmth. The young plant is called a seedling.
